User Services Manager
The User Services Manager at the University Library is responsible for operational management of the library's frontline service, providing day-to-day leadership to staff, and managing the inter-library loan (ILL) and document delivery operations. Main duties include overseeing the delivery of the library's service points, ensuring policies and procedures are updated, managing the ILL service, and contributing to planning and policy making for library services. The role also involves managing local registration and fines, dealing with conduct issues, and producing statistical reports. Special responsibilities include overseeing ILL operations, acting as a cost-centre manager for ILL, monitoring external trends in ILL, and arranging service adjustments for under-represented user groups. The User Services Manager is also responsible for staff management, contributing to policy and planning activities, and keeping abreast of trends in higher education and library services. This role is full-time and permanent. Key skills required are strong communication and interpersonal skills, good general IT skills, and an understanding of library management systems. The ideal candidate should have a first degree (honours) or equivalent and significant experience in a customer-focused academic or special library.
