Registration for the SCONUL Summer Conference is now open and we are pleased to announce that the fees will remain the same as at last year.

 

Our exciting keynote speakers include:

 

Dr Nicola Rollock, an award-winning academic, consultant and public speaker specialising in racial justice in education and the workplace. She is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Equity and Education at Goldsmiths, University of London and author of a number of major studies on race and HE including Staying Power: The career experiences and strategies of UK Black female professors. She is a Specialist Advisor to the Home Affairs’ Select Committee ‘Macpherson: 20 Years On’ Inquiry; a member of Wellcome Trust's Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group and the British Science Association’s new Equality & Diversity Advisory Group.

 

Mary Lee Kennedy, the Executive Director of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), a non-profit organisation of 124 research libraries at comprehensive, research institutions in Canada and the United States.  She is responsible for ARL’s strategic direction and has a wealth of experience in academic research libraries and knowledge corporations, including the New York Public Library (NYPL), Harvard University and Microsoft. She will be talking about the future shape of academic libraries.

 

The conference, taking place in Belfast, will start with registration at 10.00hrs on Thursday 11 June and close around 15.00hrs on Friday 12 June.

 

For delegates who are planning to arrive on the evening of Wednesday 10 June we will be holding our usual pre-conference drinks reception at Hilton Belfast which is located on the banks of the River Lagan. The conference dinner on Thursday 12 June will take place at Belfast City Hall.

 

Belfast is a vibrant city and has been named by a global travel site as one of the best destinations to visit in the coming decade. Attending the conference will allow visitors to explore sights such as the City Hall, St George’s Market, Crumlin Road Gaol, Titanic Quarter and the Crown Liquor Saloon.
