Jisc has put together a guide outlining practical steps on how higher education institutions can successfully implement Open Access (OA).
The guide is based upon research conducted by Jisc with the support of SCONUL, RLUK, ARMA and UKCoRR exploring the experiences of higher education institutions applying OA and their journeys so far.
The document provides useful information for every stage of OA implementation whether an institution is at the beginning of their OA journey or more advanced in the process. Each stage (ten in total) outlines the reason for the action, the level of effort and the relevant resources for each step, delivering in-depth detail on the application of OA in higher education institutions. Some examples of these stages include assessing your institutions’ current position on OA, the important of developing a clear communications strategy and applying research management tools where possible.
