SCONUL has provided additional analysis alongside its 2017-2018 Annual Statistical Return entitled 'Research support offered by UK academic libraries' (2019). 

Over recent years the role libraries play in supporting research has deepened and widened. This spotlight investigates the role of the library in a range of research support activities in the UK, including open access, research data management, digital literacy training, journal subscirptions and inter-library loans. The analysis highlights that academic libraries continue to diversify to ensure that they provide support to the academic community.
