SCONUL has submitted a letter to the Competition and Markets Authority urging them to proceed with a formal investigation into the merger between McGraw-Hill Education and Cengage Learning Holdings.

The merger of these two companies would result in a serious contraction in competition within the market for academic textbooks in the UK.

The deadline for the Competition and Markets Authority to announce its decision on whether to refer the merger for a Phase 2 investigation is 10 March 2020.
