SCONUL is seeking to broaden out its engagement with staff at member institutions to include all those with responsibility for library leadership - from those with overall oversight of the library service to those in senior leadership teams within libraries. Traditionally, SCONUL’s main point of contact has been with heads of service but models of leadership are now far more varied and we are seeking to respond to that.
As a first step, we are asking all our members to ensure that all those responsible for leadership within their institution are signed up to ‘lis-SCONUL’. Please ask your senior colleagues to contact sconul@sconul.ac.uk with their email address if they are not on ‘lis-sconul’.
This will enable them to have access to:
- opportunities to get involved in SCONUL groups and projects and to act as a rep on SCONUL bodies
- notification of SCONUL events and other library-relevant news, including the SCONUL newsletter
- access to SCONUL briefings and other routes for sharing news, policy developments and best practice.
SCONUL will shortly be setting up communities of interest groups and recruiting new members for our strategies groups, and want to ensure that all those involved in library leadership have the opportunity to get involved, so it would be helpful if we could have the full list of staff details by Monday 9th December.
The Board is also proposing to move away from a single individual model for SCONUL representation for voting and election purposes, and will be in contact with you again shortly to take this forward.
