Library services at small and specialist institutions, whether they be arts focused or specialist STEM institutions, share a number of particular challenges as library buildings re-open and we adjust to the new environment in which we’re working. This webinar, chaired by Robin Armstrong Viner, Head of Library Services at the Courtauld Institute of Art and SCONUL Board member, and by Sally Burton, Head of Infrastructure Customer Services, Royal Veterinary College, will bring members together to explore these areas of common interest.
Questions we will explore include:
- the immediate challenge of access to content during the latter stage of the pandemic, including sharing innovation and best practice between institutions
- the range of possible scenarios for libraries services in this group over the next two years against a background of sector-wide budgetary pressures and a drive towards blended learning and teaching
- the staffing opportunities and challenges that arise for small and specialist institutions around transitioning back to campus; expectations around blended models of working; and the particular leadership and management management challenges that arise
- potential areas for support from SCONUL or other actors such as Jisc.
This event is part of the Libraries After Lockdown virtual collaboration and open to all staff at SCONUL member institutions. For details on how to register e-mail sconul@sconul.ac.uk
