Collections & Discovery Librarian
The Collections and Discovery Librarian is responsible for managing the acquisition, organisation, and discovery of library resources in all formats. Key responsibilities include selecting, evaluating and maintaining print and electronic resources, troubleshooting access issues, enhancing discovery tools, monitoring emerging library technologies, and collaborating with staff to assess user needs. The role involves overseeing authority control, cataloguing practices and implementing systems that support collection access. The librarian also needs to stay updated with trends and best practices in librarianship, particularly in collection management and discovery services. The role requires working closely with academic staff and students to assess resource needs, and providing training and support on discovery tools. The incumbent is expected to have good communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and an in-depth understanding of collection development principles. Experience in a similar role and knowledge of integrated library systems are essential.
