Metadata & Resources Librarian

The Metadata and Resources Librarian role is a professional position within the Library, Information & Digital Services department of a university. The role involves managing a specialist arts collection and ensuring the provision of high-quality catalogue and metadata records. The Librarian will also support other library resource management workflows, including reading list checking and subscription and licensing management.

Main duties include leading on metadata creation activities, managing the creation and maintenance of bibliographic metadata within library systems, providing expert advice to colleagues on classification and metadata, and regularly reporting to the Head of Library & Discovery Services on service operations and issues.

The role requires a professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Science Degree, previous professional experience, preferably within the higher education sector, and knowledge and experience of cataloguing according to AACR2 and RDA in MARC21 format. The incumbent should also have supervisory skills, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to establish and sustain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
