Acquisitions Co-ordinator
The role of Acquisitions Co-ordinator is based in the Library & Learning Resources Department at Birmingham City University. The post is responsible for supporting the Reading Resources Manager in developing and coordinating the acquisition processes of library materials, including print and electronic books. The role involves monitoring the efficient fulfilment of acquisitions orders, coordinating the implementation of new acquisitions models, resolving enquiries from users and stakeholders, and managing Library Assistants.
Key activities include developing workflows for acquiring library materials, evaluating the cost-effectiveness of acquisition agreements, ensuring the availability of metadata records, managing enquiries related to acquisitions, analysing usage data of library collections, coordinating projects related to library collections, managing staff and maintaining relationships with suppliers and other university departments.
Applicants should have a good general standard of education, procurement or acquisitions experience, budget management experience, knowledge of copyright legislation, strong focus on service users, ability to communicate complex information, ability to work independently and in a team, line management experience, ability to establish effective working relationships, proactive attitude to service delivery, and excellent digital literacy. Experience in working with library technologies in higher education libraries, project work experience, and knowledge of acquisitions models in the commercial marketplace for higher education are desirable.
