Summary

Job Title: Library Site Supervisor (National Oceanographic Library) at the University of Southampton.

The Library Site Supervisor provides comprehensive support for library services, including administering the acquisition and cataloguing of specialist resources, document delivery, and inter-library lending. They will liaise with colleagues and external users for the procurement and development of scholarly resources. The role also includes supervising a team to ensure excellent customer service, answering enquiries, and solving problems using relevant expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the acquisition and cataloguing of specialist resources.
2. Supervise standard activities ensuring work is carried out to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
3. Oversee the management of invoices for information resources.
4. Apply good working knowledge of library and university systems to answer queries and resolve problems.
5. Contribute to special projects as required.
6. Actively engage in training and development opportunities.

Requirements:
- Skill level equivalent to achievement of NVQ2, GCSE or City and Guilds.
- Good knowledge of work systems, equipment processes, and standard IT packages.
- Ability to effectively organise work activities.
- Ability to independently solve a range of problems.
- Experience in team management and cooperation.
- Experience in providing advice on administrative procedures to colleagues and external customers.

The successful candidate may occasionally be required to work outside normal working hours or at another campus location.
