Warburg Institute

The Warburg Institute is dedicated to the study of global cultural history and the role of images in society. It examines the movement of culture across barriers - of time, space and discipline - to inspire, inform and connect. 

The Warburg Library holds a collection of international importance in the humanities. With over 390,000 volumes available on open shelves, it is the largest collection in the world focused on the afterlife of antiquity and the survival and transmission of culture, with a particular emphasis on Medieval, Renaissance and Early Modern studies.

Please note that if you are a member of academic staff or a postgraduate student from any university in the UK, you can register online to join the Warburg Library without needing to apply through the SCONUL access scheme. See our membership page for details.
