Principal Library Assistant
Principal Library Assistant provides a comprehensive service to the research and postgraduate community, making the full range of research outputs across the University available through the institutional research repository (ePrints) and research management system (PURE). Key responsibilities include reviewing procedures and processes, performing detailed analysis of specialized data, assisting with training, providing advice, verifying metadata, and contributing to the research team. The role may require occasional work outside normal working hours and at different campus locations.
Applicants should have NVQ2, GCSE, or City and Guilds equivalent qualifications, a good knowledge of work systems and standard IT packages, experience of cataloguing and creating metadata, and previous work experience in an administrative role. Skills in planning, organizing, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication are essential. Familiarity with higher education open access policies, national tools and services, creative commons licenses, and institutional research systems like Pure is desirable. The position is office-based and involves routine office work.
