Metadata and Discovery Principal Library Assistant
Metadata and Discovery Principal Library Assistant supervises the cataloguing and description of all library content, ensuring that all standards are met according to library policies. They will oversee and develop the work of a team, optimizing the discovery of all library content and ensuring excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities include supervising metadata creation, overseeing team performance, providing specialist knowledge support, reviewing new techniques and workflow optimisations, liaising with external suppliers, providing advice on metadata standards, monitoring the quality of digital content, and performing other duties as allocated by the manager.
The ideal candidate should have a skill level equivalent to HNC, A-Level, NVQ3, proven work experience in relevant roles, knowledge and understanding of digital systems and library metadata standards, and experience supervising library collections management processes. They should be able to plan and organise work, solve problems, work well in a team, communicate effectively, and engage in training and development opportunities. Occasional requirements to work outside normal hours may be necessary.
