Head of Archives & Special Collections
Head of Archives & Special Collections: responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the University Archives and Special Collections, including significant collections of international importance. The role requires expert knowledge of archival practices, the ability to develop long-term plans for the collections, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
Key responsibilities include maintaining professional knowledge relating to archives and curatorial practice, leading on policy creation, managing archival services, identifying resources to deliver educational and research objectives, and leading the procurement and implementation of archival digital infrastructure. The individual will also be expected to manage and mentor direct reports, develop stakeholder relationships, and manage fixed-term projects.
Applicants should have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in libraries, archives, historical, or museums. They should also be capable of planning and managing major new projects or activities, solving complex problems, managing team dynamics, and influencing to foster and maintain relationships. The role is office-based and may require occasional work at various campus locations.
