Systems, Access & Discovery Manager
The job role involves managing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems and applications to ensure optimal performance. This includes providing technical support and day-to-day administration for library technologies such as authorisation and authentication application, library management system, resource management system, web discovery platforms, and more.
The role also involves collaborating with key stakeholders like the university IT department, service providers, and users to deliver consistent and seamless access to library resources and services. The job holder is expected to conduct research on new technologies and make recommendations on service innovations to enhance user experience.
Key responsibilities include managing installation, configuration, software releases, security patching, performance monitoring, back-ups of the library systems and applications, providing technical support to students, faculty and staff, capturing and prioritising demands for service enhancement, and monitoring system performance.
The person needs to have a degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science, customer-focused orientation, experience in managing and supporting library management systems, and experience in project environments involving system development. Other essential skills include service management, ability to identify business needs, commitment to innovative delivery, excellent communication skills, and willingness to work unsocial hours on occasions.
