Systems Development Specialist
The Systems Development Specialist role, based at Birmingham City University's Library and Learning Resources department, involves managing library technologies to optimise their functionality, capacity, and accessibility. The post entails providing first-line technical support, daily administration for library technologies, and developing proactive system solutions. Key responsibilities include supporting operational management of library technologies, providing technical support to students, faculty, and staff, supporting project delivery, and giving advice on library technologies. The role requires at least a GCSE level of education, experience in configuring and troubleshooting library systems, business analysis, working with complex database systems, and excellent communication skills. It also requires a positive and enthusiastic attitude, ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to work unsocial hours when necessary. Experience in project working, dealing with IT providers and suppliers, and providing teaching or learning to others is desirable.
