Job Description

Summary

The Archivist at the University of West London is responsible for managing the University's archives, including cataloging items, arranging specialist conservation work, researching the history of materials in the archives, managing storage of items, identifying new material for inclusion, managing the digitization process, and engaging the University community with the archive. The role also includes promoting the archives, developing archival policies and procedures, training staff, and maintaining professional development.

The Archivist should have a degree or equivalent experience, a postgraduate qualification in Archival Studies or equivalent experience, and membership of an appropriate professional body. They should also have experience working in an archive, knowledge of archival cataloguing, experience providing enquiry support services, and knowledge of relevant archival policies and legislation. Apart from these technical skills, excellent IT, communication, interpersonal, negotiating, and project management skills are required, along with a commitment to meeting user needs and continuing professional development. This role does not require a DBS check.
